From the January 1984 Parade:
- Burglaries on the increase: There has been an increase
in burglaries and attempts at forced entry (in some cases,
when residents were at home) in Pine Spring. ...Residents
are urged to be particularly careful in the early evening
hours -- and be absolutely certain that all doors and widows
are secured when retiring for the night.
Articles in the October 1983 Parade:
- Wine, cheese party: Oct. 21: Donna and Bryce Cerwensky
have kindly offered their home for the annual Pine Spring
Wine and Cheese Party.
- Another try at a truck ban: Based on comments from
the PSCA, the Board of Supervisors has recently asked that
legislation be introduced in the Virginia General Assembly
which would give localities more authority over through-truck
traffic. A similar legislative attempt last year was killed
in committee. In addition, Providence District Supervisor
James W. Scott has renewed his request through the Board
of Supervisors for through-truck traffic limitation in Pine
Spring and other communities west of Graham Road. County
staff will soon begin traffic counts in Pine Spring to gain
up-to-date information about the number of trucks using
community streets.
Articles in the September 1983 Parade:
- Cable TV arrives here: Representatives of Media
General are contacting residents. A number of residents
are already receiving cable service.
- Home loans at low rates: [ 9.9%!!
] Pine Spring is now in the Falls Church Rehabilitation
District, which means that eligible residents can receive
home improvement loans for repairs and improvements which
substantially protect or improve the basic livability or
energy efficiency of a home.
